Craniosacral therapy or cst
Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST) has its roots in osteopathy and is a holistic body treatment. It is very gentle and aims to relax the body so that it can find its way back to optimum health. Because of its gentle nature, anyone can try this treatment, from babies to the elderly.
We all understand that if our bodies and minds are under stress then they do not work as efficiently. Health issues can occur as stress takes over. CST offers the body and mind a chance to find health through relaxing the whole system. This can work on many levels during a treatment and is often felt by patients as the body physically and mentally relaxing into a deep sense of spaciousness.
CST is used to treat many ailments and conditions, and can be especially effective for things such as; tinnitus, vertigo, inner ear conditions, IBS, migraines, insomnia, chronic pain and hormonal problems.
It can also be very beneficial for trauma and PTSD, by helping the body to let go of ingrained traumatic holding patterns that can be stored. Allowing a feeling of safety and stability. It can be particularly effective way to help with anxiety and stress related conditions.
I have also recently been treating clients with Long Covid symptoms, achieving positive results.
CST can be used to treat many conditions but can also be used as part of a regular self care maintenance plan. It is extremely restorative and is very beneficial for the Central Nervous System as it has a calming effect.
The treatment involves a light contact from my hands, mainly around the head (cranium) and contacts along the spine, down to the base (sacrum). You remain fully clothed whilst lying on a massage couch.
I may sometimes work in a more physical way using facial unwinding - this is very beneficial for the skeletal system and can help with injuries such as; RSI, sciatica, tennis elbow etc. This is not painful in any way.
Your first CST treatment will start with a thorough consultation so that we can chat about what has brought you to find this treatment.
I offer a safe and confidential space to talk openly.
I am fascinated by the body and how it works (and often doesn't work). My approach is to assess your body through the muscles, bones, and fascia. By talking first about what is happening now and also a detailed history, we may find that your current injury or issue, stems from something that happened a very long time ago and in a completely different part of your body. Working holistically allows your body to let go of unhelpful holding patterns so that it can find healthy new ones.
It can take a little time for your body to adjust and heal, so I would suggest at least 4 treatments to then assess how your body is responding and feeling.
I myself have regular treatment and also attend supervision sessions to help continue my professional development.
I am very passionate about CST and have seen the benefits and positive change it has brought to so many clients.
I am fully insured by Holistic Insurance Services.
